Beccles Public Hall & Theatre – a historic venue at the heart of the community

Beccles Public Hall is a much-loved landmark with a rich heritage dating back over 200 years. Located in the centre of the market town of Beccles, the Hall has long served as a central hub for local life – hosting everything from public meetings and performances to private celebrations and community gatherings.

Today, the Hall delivers for Beccles a broad and deep, rich and vibrant, arts and entertainment venue, as well as being an accessible meeting place and community hub.

Arts & Entertainment

The Hall runs a wide and varied programme throughout the year. With live drama, music and musicals, variety, comedy, films, seasonal fundraisers and an acclaimed pantomime at Christmas, there is something to suit all tastes and interests.

The Hall is also home to Waveney Light Opera Group and its youth group Rising Stars, and hosts performances from them as well as other local groups including local choirs, Spotlight Theatre and various local dance and performing arts schools.

The Hall has a thriving Youth Theatre Group and has produced and co-produced its own in-house shows featuring the children as well as local adult artists.

Community Hub

The Hall remains a hub of the local community, running and hosting various local groups and events: a weekly arts class, a regular dementia group, U3A meetings and presentations, an annual art exhibition in August, the annual Beccles Beer Festival in November, and many more.
